CAPITOL CITY PEDIATRIC ASTHMA CENTER

Concept Statement: Capitol City Pediatric Asthma Clinic, which is an asthma subspecialty clinic for pediatric patients ages 0-18, will have an overall feeling of an charm and comfort. With a large array of colors, including greens, blues, yellows, reds, and pinks throughout the space, the colors will generate a sense of excitement for users of the clinic. White is the primary color used in the overall palette, with green, blue, and red as the secondary colors. The tertiary colors are orange, yellow, orange, and pink. Green represents rest and security, blue symbolizes imagination and freedom, and red represents energy and vitality. Though using a large array of colors, they are used secondary to white, and as visual cues to create a more effective and user friendly space.

With several exam spaces, procedure rooms, a drive through pharmacy, as well as a therapeutic garden with biophilia and active lobby space fit for patients and families, every person that walks through CCPAC will feel well cared for. Each exam room is well equipped for ages 0-18. Vital spaces adjacent to exam rooms are zero transition, fit for wheelchair users, as well as any pediatric patient to walk onto. Each exam room is ADA accessible with fully height adjustable exam tables. The active waiting area features several seating types for both adults and children to relax before and after their appointment. Several TVs with a variety of educational videos create an easy way for families to keep busy.

CCPAC subspecialty clinic is easy to navigate, with large signage throughout both floors and color coordinated rooms. Each exam room has large letters directly adjacent to their respective door. Along with the exam room name, comes a clearly labeled room number with colored door to match. Each staff area has a separate color, to easily differentiate patient spaces from staff ones. In addition, in the entryway of the clinic, lies a color coordinated list spaces. ‘Reception’ listed in red with a left arrow, matches the red reception desk area to the left of the entryway. This creates clarity as soon as users enter the building to alleviate confusion and ease in navigation. Though serving a wide range of patient ages, there is space for each user to feel safe and welcomed, as sustaining life with asthma is their first priority.
